ABOUT MYSELF

My name is Kane Walters. I am 23 and I am a music producer from Harlow, Essex. In September 2016,  I graduated from The University of Hertfordshire, where I studied a BSc (Hons) degree in Music & Sound Design Technology. Having excelled with a 2.1 degree, I am looking to take the skills and traits I have learnt over the last seven years and transfer them into a professional working environment. During the last three years at University, my course has allowed me to understand the music industry as a business, as well as utilising my time gaining experience in engineering, marketing, sound design, music publishing, producing music and taking part in the official Apple Certification exam for Logic Pro X. A major part of my degree enables me to explore the nature of current sound and music technologies using the latest digital audio hardware with recording, mixing and mastering inside DAW’s such as Logic Pro X and Pro Tools. I investigated and researched a variety of topics including sampling, sequencing, MIDI protocols and MAX programming, ensuring that I will be well equipped with the knowledge and hands-on experience expected of todays professionals.

I have been a keen musician and songwriter for roughly seven years and I started to produce music around five years ago when I was studying a Music Performance degree in College. During my short involvement in the music industry, I have worked on a variety of projects over the years including music for film and TV, sound design, foley and live sound. These projects have allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills in all departments of the music industry and not just restricting myself to one area of work. I am a lover of all things creative and I am a hardworking and self-motivated individual with a positive attitude always keen to learn new skills. I endeavour to work well as part of a team as well as being equally effective working on my own. Every task given to me is completed to the best of my ability using my own initiative, which I believe to be a vital characteristic in any working environment.

With regards to my work experience within the music industry, I have worked and offered my services in a vast variety of environments, which has in turn prepared me to become involved in the music workplace. For one month, I offered my services to a recording studio near Brighton called Yellow Fish. During my time there, I took it upon myself to mix a variety of songs using digital and analogue desks. It was also my responsibility to make sure that the studio floor and the live room was always kept tidy, and to ensure all the equipment was put away correctly for the next potential clients to use. I also offered my free time to work as a steward at Reading Festival in 2014 with the Oxfam Charity, and I found my experience personally rewarding, as I had always been interested in taking part in charitable events.
